Travel The World of Flavor with Serious Foodie Spice Rubs & Seasonings
Gluten-free & Healthy Ingredients
Dry rubs are simple, versatile, and healthy – even when you buy a pre-made rub rather than collecting all the spice ingredients to make from scratch. Home made versions are easy to prepare, but a commercial version may have ingredients that are harder to find. Or, you just don’t want extra spices hanging around in your cupboard.
Spice rubs/blends are used around the world to impart a lot of flavor to grilled meats, casseroles, and stews – and are often used instead of salt. They can be stored at room temperature for long periods of time, and do not take up much space. Another great thing about dry rubs is that you can impart a lot of flavor without much work and without much added calories or cost. The typical dry rub from Serious Foodie adds between 5 to 10 calories per serving. Not much, considering that the average BBQ sauce can add about 100 to 200 calories per serving.
Serious Foodie has a wide array of flavor sets, which is a great way to explore amazing regional cuisines.

Asian Fusion Spice Blend
Indian cuisine itself is so diverse, and so interesting – it would take a lifetime to learn it all. Serious Foodie has focused on Southern Indian food which is spicy and flavorful. Filipino Tempeh tacos
We are always looking for quick, healthy vegan options when we use the Serious Foodie products. Here, we dry-rub marinated tempeh with the Filipino blend, then stir fried with onion, sweet red pepper, and chopped pineapple. It was yummy on its own, but made for a surprisingly delish (and unique) taco.
Kansas City BBQ
According to Wikipedia, “Kansas City style barbecue refers to the specific regional barbecue style of slowly smoked meat that originated from the pit of Henry Perry in the early 1900’s. Kansas City barbecue is rubbed with spices, slow-smoked over a variety of woods, then served with a tomato-based sauce.” Although we were not around during Mr. Perry’s time, we were able to re-create a rub that is true to the traditional regional version with a combination of sweet, salty, spicy and smoky flavors.
Ingredients: Demerara sugar, sea salt, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, black peppercorns, mustard powder, orange peel, oregano, ground cumin, ground coriander, celery seeds, cayenne pepper, ground cloves

Kansas City Ribs
What more can we say? Except – delicious. These ribs were dry-rub marinated over night in the fridge, then slow cooked for 3 hours in one of those green kettles.
